KIDS CRAFT IDEAS - I

Finger Puppets.

Finger Puppets are extremely easy to make and very fun to play with. Playing with these puppets  develops the child's imagination and story telling skills and improves their concentration and listening skills. I was very keen on having a few in my homeschooling  classroom, but as it happened ,they weren't always available and when they were  available, they were not of the desirable quality and heavily overpriced.

So, I decided let me just make some on my own, and I didnt want the card or paper ones , I really wanted the ones made of felt fabric. But, as it happened, I have absolutely no sewing skills. and I thought I would glue the pieces together or may be I could staple them together  but nope  didn't work out. Finally, I had to use my sad little tacking skill, and Subhan Allah, that did work out great . I was absolutely amazed and excited, who knew a simple tacking could fulfill such a purpose and motivate a person. Even my children got involved, and I could proudly teach my children my sewing skills Alhamdulillah.

and got to work,

We cut out the shapes and started putting them together with little details.. they turned out simply amazing.alhamdulillah.

We started off with few animals,

     

  

                                 

The animal puppets were not very difficult, except for the peacock, which was very  time consuming with all the detailings .

Then we decided to make some story characters and came up with these.

We are still working on some more puppets. At present working on a people in our neighbourhood set.

Sewing has its own benefits.  now that the kids know how do simple sewing, they try to patch up small tears and holes on their own, Alhamdulillah..

Insha allah will soon put up our other puppet creations.
